Flying an ultra-light aircraft is flying in its purest form. These delightful aircraft by regulation are light at less than 254 lbs empty. They are simple, single-seat designs with modern lightweight power-plants. (see ultra-lights- history) Most have tricycle landing gear with conventional controls like any modern larger plane. They are maneuverable and will take-off and land in a very short distance at safe slow speeds of around 30 mph.
Their light weight allows landings to farm fields, beaches and places where a heavier faster aircraft simply can not go. The FAA allows flying them within all states in the US except around busy airports, restricted airspace and over populated areas. These designs are best flown in lighter winds and good weather. No pilot license is required to fly these aircraft which are not registered with the FAA. Flight training is mandatory as the light-weight, low-inertia and slower speeds pose special hazards to the untrained.
Our Ultra-light flying lessons training program will provide you with the skills and procedures required to fly these designs safely and legally. You will be trained by a highly skilled FAA certified instructor with 18 years of ultra-light flight training experience.
